The cable actually was faulty. I had this cable and the previous version magsafe airline adaptor with me on two flights and both cases, the cable from this seller was proven to be defective. I’m not sure if it was there fault or not. I went to an apple store and got it swapped out though (thanks apple!), and the one directly from Apple works perfectly.

Apple’s airline adapter is expensive for a small, rather cheaply made (at least it feels that way) item. Using it with a MacBook Pro 17″(June 2009) on my last flight, I started with 90% battery power. Two hours later the battery had slipped to about 80% so it doesn’t stay even. The worst part is the piece that fits into an airplane power port. The cigarette lighter type has to be added to the base power connector (base power seems to be for European airlines mostly). It is easy to pull out the cord and leave the attachment in the plane. I know, I did it and Apple won’t sell just this cheap little cigarette lighter piece – cost another $49. I generally love Apple products and support. This is the exception.

I use this to cool my PowerBook G4. The laptop is up on a simple stand, but it runs pretty hot; the CPU often runs up to 142+ degrees F, at which point the noisy internal fans turn on. With the little TT fan blowing across the keyboard area, the PowerBook seldom reaches 140 degrees, and the internal fans almost never kick in. The TT fan is nearly silent at its lowest levels, very quiet at the level I use (~halfway up), and not terribly loud even at its highest setting. It’s definitely got a DIY-geeky look, but at least it’s not geek-bling with pulsing LEDs or anything. My one big knock against it is its lack of an off switch. Seems like it would have been simple enough to have it click off when you turn it all the way down; as it is, I have to unplug it at the end of the day.

I got this to get a little airflow for a cramped computer desk where the chassis is artistically put in its own wooden coffin. This fan works beautifully. Does what it needs to and the simple design gives the feeling that it’s made to work. My only complaint is that there is no “off”. There’s basically high, medium and low. Given that it’s not all that loud, it’s not a problem. I ended up putting another one inside the chassis to keep the air flowing after the machine has been shut off. The box cools quicker, preserving the life of all the parts. I love these things.

I house my PC inside a 15″ wide base cabinet below the workspace in my basement-level office. I have to keep the cabinet door closed (locked actually) to keep the children from turning the unit off and on. Unfortunately, the inside of the cabinet gets pretty hot from the PC due to the lack of circulation. I needed an inexpensive, convenient, and safe way to keep the cabinet cool. I purchased the Thermaltake Desktop USB Cooling Fan, cut a 3.5″ square opening on the side of the cabinet, and installed the fan facing out of the openning to draw the warm air out. This solution worked perfectly! I can adjust the Thermaltake fan speed up if I’m running CPU intensive applications – like games or watching a DVD – to draw more air. The fan is very quite – unnoticable really, and the fan grill keeps little fingers from touching the fan blade. I would highly recommend this product.

I bought this little fan to cool an HD-DVR and Amplifier, both of which get very warm when in operation. My cabinet has glass doors which I had to open when in use so as not to overheat the equipment. I cut a small square opening in the back of my entertainment cabinet just large enough to wedge this little unit in. I cut a few other ventilation slots along the bottom of the rear cabinet and connected the USB cord to an open slot on the DVR. The fan has an adjustment for how fast the blades circulate air. Even at half speed, the unit kept both devices cool with the doors closed. Its a pretty quite fan, but at full crank is fairly noticeable which is why I keep it running at half speed.

The fan has adjustable speed using a easy turn knob, very quite at mid speed. I use it to pull air over my DSL router, and the router’s overheating resets, have stopped. Great metal wire housing supporting the fan. Came with 3 feet of USB cable. Would buy again.

I have a T23 Thinkpad. It works great! The only problem was that it got warm after an hour’s use. I thought I would try this fan to see if it would work. Because of the low price I thought there was a catch. Because it plugs into a usb port I didn’t expect it to be very efficient. I also thought it would be loud. I was wrong. This keeps my thinkpad from getting warm and it is surprisingly quiet. The only drawback is that it is curved and opened on the bottom so it does not sit on your lap comfortably. But if you get a little lapdesk there is no problem.

The product does a great job of cooling a laptop and is VERY quiet. It is perfect for use on furniture, but if you use it on your lap, as I do, you need something under it. I used a cutting board. The construction is flimsy, the wiring open on the bottom, and I managed to break the on/off switch after only 6 weeks of toteing it around in a case with my laptop. Leave it in one location, like on a desktop, and it should give years of service. If you are very careful, it can stand up to travel. Because of the construction issues, I replaced it with a Targus PA28U. This unit is more durable, the wiring fully enclosed, and cools just as well. It is not as quiet and is more expensive. It sits on a desktop or lap without additional support.

I bought this product because my laptops fan constantly kept coming on while i worked on long projects. i know that every time your laptop fan comes on the cpu is losing life because its starting to overheat. well i decided to pick up a fan. this one works great. i never hear my laptop fan come on. it makes the same amount of noise as the laptop fan does but i can feel the cold air coming from underneath it. it stands your laptop up as well and now my wrist are feeling much better. by standing up it allows the fan to pull in air around the laptop which is need instead of just spinning air in place from the small fans. this is a great product and was worth every dollar.

I own several different pads and this one is the best made of them all and the least expensive. This is a real good buy and is metal, which I believe are the best pads. The problem with metal is their open back which needs a flat hard surface to work on, I use mine on a desk so no problem for me.Good,good deal on a truly well made cooling pad.

I’ve had this product for a few weeks and so far it’s great. The fans are so quiet I can’t even tell if they’re on, and, even though I was worried that the pad would elevate my laptop too far above my desk, the before-and-after difference is miniscule. To answer the question about whether this product is metal or plastic, I originally thought it was metal (sure looks like it) but when I put a refrigerator magnet against the pad, it didn’t stick, so it must be made of plastic. My laptop extends past the edges of the pad by an inch on both sides, but it’s not a problem – there are no aesthetic issues with that whatsoever. I rarely, if ever, work with my laptop actually in my lap, so using this pad to cool my computer in that situation is not an issue. So far, great product!

I highly recommend this laptop cooler for many reasons and 1 of them is that is has a really big fan which cools the laptops in a few a very short period of time. You may have seen other laptop coolers with 3 fans but I doubt they are as strong as the one gigantic fan this cooler offers. I would recommend it for people that don’t move the laptop around due to it might be a bit big or heavy to carry around.

I looked at notebook coolers for awhile. I decided on this one after lots of research. I love this thing! It is quiet and does a excellent job of keeping the computer cool. The computer fan was on high all the time and now it is hardly ever on, even when it does kick on I just turn up the notebook cooler to high and it does the trick. I would say this will extend the life of my notebook which was so hot at times. It is a great product.

I used the older twin fan cooler from Antec prior to buying this, and it was loud and didn’t do a good job of cooling my computer. My computer burnt up the GPU and CPU in December while using the old cooler, and that prompted me to spend the money for the new one. The Unbeatable Notebook Cooler 200 is quieter, larger (in my case that’s a good thing), and much more effective. My lap actually gets cold using the thing, and I’ve noticed that since my computer has been repaired and I’m using the new cooler the internal cooling fan hardly ever kicks into that higher setting, even during graphic intensive games! Gotta love that.

This cooler is unbelievable. Talk about a HUGE fan! I researched laptop coolers for my XBOX 360, because the cooling fans made to plug into the back of the system are a fire hazard. It is so quiet, you can hardly hear it when it is on high and you are an inch away from it! All I had to do is put something under the front feet to level it, because since it is intended for a laptop, it is angled. It would have been nice if that was adjustable, and if the fan itself had an on-off switch (only the LED operates on the switch), but otherwise it is an outstanding product, well worth the money. No more fear of the dreaded RROD!
